The soft seat lets the hips settle, so long laptop sessions felt better with a small lumbar pillow.

Choose the Alton if you want a sofa built around your room instead of forcing a stock size to work. Cloud is the best match for deep lounging, while Wave or Performance makes more sense when upright support matters. Skip it if you want fast delivery, a simple return path, or a seat that naturally keeps you upright for hours.

We tested the Alton through everyday lounging, laptop work, naps, and two-person movie sessions. Choose the cushion before the fabric. Cloud is the softest and works best for reclining, while Wave is the safer middle ground for households that lounge and sit upright. Performance is the better choice for long conversations, reading, or occasional laptop work. Plush sits between Wave and Performance but costs the most of the four options.

Then choose the width from the room, not from the product photo. Mark the full footprint on the floor and leave the main traffic path open. The 86-inch version gives two adults comfortable room to spread out, while 74 inches is easier to place in a smaller living room. Order fabric swatches and confirm door, hallway, and stair clearances before approving a custom size, because custom changes are not returnable once production begins.

The Cloud cushion is the Alton’s most inviting option and its clearest limitation. During long upright sessions, the hips settle lower than the knees and the lower back rounds unless a pillow fills the gap. The softer surface also warmed more than a taut foam seat in our test. Neither issue hurt movie-night comfort, but both matter if the sofa will double as a desk chair.

Customization also reduces flexibility after checkout. Width, cushion feel, fabric, and other changes must be right before the order enters production because custom modifications are excluded from the return policy.
