Tulo Mattress Reviews

Tulo sits in that tricky world of budget mattresses: affordable enough to look “too good to be true,” but still built for real, nightly sleep. Because the brand is widely sold through Mattress Firm, we kept hearing the same question—does the price reflect smart simplicity, or meaningful compromises?

We tested five currently listed models: the 10" Medium Cooling Hybrid, the Green Tea Hybrid 10" Medium, the Bamboo 8" Medium Green Tea Memory Foam, the Bamboo 6" Firm Green Tea Memory Foam, and the Lavender 8" Medium Memory Foam. After rotating nights and running the same checklist on each, we compiled the scores and picks below.

Testing Team Takeaways

We leaned on sleepers with very different needs—Marcus (heavier, runs hot), Mia (lighter side sleeper), and Jenna (couples testing)—to see where this budget line holds up and where it doesn’t.

The hybrids felt like the most complete options overall. The thinner foam beds can work for lighter bodies or occasional use, but they don’t offer the same support range.

Marcus preferred the Cooling Hybrid for airflow and pushback. The thin foam beds felt too close to the base under his weight.

Mia liked the Green Tea Hybrid and Lavender for shoulder relief. The 6-inch firm foam was too rigid for side sleeping.

Jenna noted that the foam models isolate motion best, while the hybrids add a bit more bounce and partner feel.

What We Tested and How We Tested It

We tested each mattress using the same script we use for budget and midrange beds. Every model went through setup, short break-in time, and multiple nights with different testers so the comparisons stay consistent.

We started with support and alignment. We repeated position checks and watched what happened at the hip and shoulder, since those are common trouble spots for posture and pressure.

Next was Pressure relief. Mia spent long blocks on her side on each mattress, then we compared notes with our pressure maps—especially for side-sleep comfort.

For motion isolation, Jenna and Marcus ran partner-movement drills (getting in and out, rolling, and changing positions) while another tester tried to rest.

Cooling checks leaned on Marcus and Jamal. They slept under heavier covers on scheduled nights and rated surface warmth, heat buildup, and how quickly the bed recovered.

Finally, we combined those nights with construction notes (height, materials, and overall build) plus key ratings like edge support, and then assigned the category scores shown under each mattress.

Tulo Mattress Reviews: Our Testing Experience

Tulo 10

Tulo 10" Medium Cooling Hybrid Mattress

Our Testing Experience

The Cooling Hybrid was the most breathable and “springy” Tulo model we tested. On my back and stomach, it kept my hips from dipping and felt steady even when I raised the head of an adjustable base.

Marcus, our hottest sleeper and heaviest tester, noticed the biggest difference here. The coil core vented heat better than the all-foam beds, and the support stayed firm under his midsection.

It does lean medium-firm. That helps with support and easy movement, but very light, strict side sleepers may want deeper cushioning. Motion isolation is good for a hybrid, though not as quiet as the foam models.

Tulo 10 Medium Cooling Hybrid Mattress

Pros & Cons

Pros Cons
Best cooling in the lineup Too firm for many light side sleepers
Supportive under hips and lower back Edge compresses a bit under heavy sitting
Responsive feel for repositioning More motion transfer than the all-foam beds
Easy to move on Only one feel option (no plush version)

Tulo Green Tea Hybrid 10

Tulo Green Tea Hybrid 10" Medium Mattress

Our Testing Experience

If the Cooling Hybrid felt a bit firm, the Green Tea Hybrid is the gentler hybrid option. The surface has more initial give, so my shoulders settled in a little deeper without pulling my hips out of line.

Mia, our light side sleeper, preferred this feel over the firmer hybrid. She got better shoulder relief and a smoother transition from the top layer into the coil support.

It still reads as a budget hybrid: edge support is only average for heavier bodies, and it sleeps a touch warmer than the Cooling Hybrid. That said, it was the most broadly comfortable pick for mixed back-and-side sleepers.

Tulo Green Tea Hybrid 10" Medium Mattress

Better shoulder pressure relief for many side sleepers Sleeps a bit warmer than the Cooling Hybrid

Tulo Green Tea 8

Tulo Bamboo 8" Medium Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress

Our Testing Experience

The Bamboo 8-inch Green Tea model is the straightforward, thinner all-foam option in the lineup. At 8 inches, the build is simple, but there’s still enough cushion on top to feel comfortable for lighter sleepers.

At 185 pounds, I felt supported on my back, but my side-sleeping comfort depended on how long I stayed there. Mia also noticed her shoulder didn’t sink as easily as it did on the hybrids, which is typical of a thinner comfort layer.

This is the practical pick for guest rooms, teens, and lighter adults: it’s compact, quiet, and easy to set up. If you’re heavier or you want more depth and airflow, either hybrid is the safer everyday choice.

Tulo Green Tea 8 Medium Mattress

Strong motion isolation for an all-foam bed Less forgiving for side sleepers than the hybrids
Simple foam feel (no coil bounce) Breathability is only average compared with hybrids

Tulo Green Tea 6

Tulo Bamboo 6" Firm Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress

Our Testing Experience

At 6 inches, this is the most no-frills mattress we tested—and it feels like it. The surface is firm immediately, with minimal sink and a more “sleep on top” feel than the other Tulo beds.

That thin, firm build makes it practical for bunks, trundles, and other low-profile setups. For side sleeping, the lack of cushioning shows fast; Mia felt pressure at the shoulder and hip almost right away.

Think of it as a utility mattress for lighter bodies or occasional use. For everyday adult sleep, most people will be more comfortable on the 8-inch foam model or either hybrid.

Tulo Green Tea 6" Firm Mattress

Pros & Cons

Pros Cons
Thin profile for bunks, trundles, and tight spaces Too firm for most side sleepers
Firm, stable feel for some back/stomach sleepers Limited pressure relief and plushness
Very quiet with low motion transfer Not ideal for heavier adults as a daily bed
Easy to move and set up Basic feel compared with hybrids
Tulo Green Tea 6" Firm Mattress

  • Best for: Kids, bunks, trundles, and short-term setups

Tulo Lavender Memory Foam 8

Tulo Lavender 8" Medium Memory Foam Mattress

Our Testing Experience

The Lavender mattress delivered the most classic memory-foam feel in this group: slower response, more contouring, and a noticeable lavender scent right after unboxing.

On my back, it cradled without letting my hips drop too far, and it felt gentler than the firmer foam models. Mia also liked the extra shoulder give compared with the thinnest foam bed.

The tradeoffs are typical for budget memory foam: it can run warmer than the hybrids, and the 8-inch profile doesn’t offer the same support reserve for heavier bodies. If you want a true memory-foam hug and strong motion isolation on a budget, this is the best match in the lineup.

Tulo Lavender Memory Foam 8" Mattress

Pros & Cons

Pros Cons
Classic memory-foam contour and “hug” Can run warm for hot sleepers
Excellent motion isolation 8-inch profile may feel thin for heavier bodies
Gentler pressure relief than the firmest foam option Slow response can feel less “easy to move”
Lavender scent is a nice touch for some sleepers Scent isn’t for everyone
Tulo Lavender Memory Foam 8" Mattress

  • Type: All-foam (mattress in a box)
  • Profile: 8 inches
  • Feel: Medium (about 5–6/10)
  • Build: Lavender-infused memory foam over support foam
  • Cooling: Average; tends to hold more warmth than the hybrids
  • Pressure relief: Good for light-to-average side sleepers and joint-sensitive sleepers
  • Motion isolation: Very strong

  • Best for: Sleepers who want a memory-foam hug and quiet surface movement

Compare Performance Scores of These Tulo Mattresses

Tulo 10" Medium Cooling Hybrid 4.4 4.4 4.3 4.7 4.1 4.3 4.5
Tulo Green Tea Hybrid 10" Medium 4.4 4.3 4.5 4.3 4.2 4.2 4.3

Tulo Bamboo 6" Firm Green Tea Memory Foam 4.0 3.9 3.4 4.0 4.1 4.0 3.9
Tulo Lavender 8" Medium Memory Foam 4.1 3.9 4.3 3.9 4.4 3.9 3.8

From these numbers, the two hybrids sit at the top as most balanced options, especially for support and everyday versatility. The Lavender and Green Tea 8" models act as specialists for pressure relief and motion isolation, particularly for lighter sleepers. The 6-inch Firm stands apart as a deliberately hard surface that trades comfort depth for bunk-friendly practicality.

Tulo Mattress Reviews

Best Picks in This Tulo Mattress Reviews Round

  • Best for hot sleepers – Tulo 10" Medium Cooling Hybrid. It delivered the strongest cooling feel in this group, and its support stayed reliable for back and combination sleepers.
  • Best for mixed side-and-back sleepers – Tulo Green Tea Hybrid 10" Medium. It felt the most balanced overall, with extra shoulder give compared with the firmer hybrid and controlled motion for a budget coil bed.
  • Best budget pick for guest and youth rooms – Tulo Bamboo 8" Medium Green Tea Memory Foam. The compact profile and quiet foam feel make it an easy fit for bunks, teen rooms, and occasional sleep.

How to Choose the Tulo Mattress That Fits You

Start with construction. The hybrids are the safer everyday picks for most adults—more airflow, more support range, and easier movement. The thinner all-foam options make more sense for guest rooms, kids’ rooms, or lighter sleepers.

If you’re sensitive to pressure on your shoulder or hip, you’ll usually want more surface give than the firmest foam provides. The Green Tea Hybrid and the Lavender 8-inch were the most forgiving; the 6-inch firm foam is rarely a good fit for light-weight side sleepers.

For back and combination sleepers, either hybrid can work. If you want a firmer, more responsive surface, the Cooling Hybrid was the better match; if you want a bit more initial cushion, the Green Tea Hybrid felt gentler on shoulders.

If you sleep hot, prioritize the Cooling Hybrid. It simply breathed better in our testing than the foam models, and it held onto less heat over the course of the night.

If you’re a heavier couple, lean hybrid. Both hybrids offered more pushback and a sturdier perimeter than the thinner foam beds, which matters for long-term support and ease of getting in and out.

Price changes often with promotions, so treat the numbers as a moving target. Focus on the feel and the support you need first, then shop the best deal on the closest match.

More guidance: What Mattress to Buy

Limitations of the Main Tulo Mattress Lineup

Tulo is built to hit a low price point, and you can see it in the materials and overall finish. None of these beds felt “luxury plush,” and the thinner foam models have less cushion and a smaller comfort range.

If you’re heavier, you sleep mostly on your side, or you want a softer feel, the hybrids are the safer choices. For many sleepers, the 6-inch firm foam will feel too rigid for nightly use.

Policies at a Glance

Tulo mattresses are most often sold through Mattress Firm, so shipping, trial, and return terms can vary by listing and location. Use the table below as a quick orientation, then confirm the exact terms at checkout.

Mattress Shipping (Cost and Region) Trial Period Return Policy / Fees Warranty Length Notable Conditions
Tulo 10" Medium Cooling Hybrid Boxed shipping via Mattress Firm (often free/low-cost in the contiguous U.S.) Around 120 nights (varies) Returns/exchanges after break-in; fees may apply Commonly 10-year limited Retailer rules apply; comfort-exchange limits can apply
Tulo Green Tea Hybrid 10" Medium Similar boxed shipping through Mattress Firm Around 120 nights (varies) Store policies; fees vary by region Often 10-year limited Confirm exchange timing and limits
Tulo Bamboo 8" Medium Green Tea Memory Foam Boxed shipping through retailer network Around 120 nights (varies) Exchanges possible; pickup/restocking fees vary Typically 10-year limited Some locations require stain-free returns
Tulo Bamboo 6" Firm Green Tea Memory Foam Same boxed shipping program as the 8-inch Around 120 nights (varies) Return eligibility follows store guidelines Usually 10-year limited Confirm policies for bunk/RV installs
Tulo Lavender 8" Medium Memory Foam Similar boxed shipping within retailer network Around 120 nights (varies) Comfort exchange rules apply; fees vary Typically 10-year limited Keep paperwork; exchange limits may apply

In practice, the trial/return experience tends to depend more on the retailer program than on the specific Tulo model. If policies are a deciding factor, prioritize the listing with the clearest written terms.

Carlos Alvarez

Posture & Work-From-Home Specialist

Carlos spends long hours working from sofas and beds with a laptop. He tracks how mid-back, neck, and lumbar regions respond to different setups. His notes reveal whether a product keeps posture neutral during extended sitting or lying, and whether small adjustments still feel stable and controlled.
