Nectar Premier Copper Mattress Reviews (2026)

Nectar Premier Copper Mattress Reviews (2026)

The Nectar Premier Copper was a 14-inch all-foam mattress built for sleepers who wanted deep contouring without the usual heat buildup of dense memory foam. Its strongest results came in pressure relief and motion isolation; its weakest came at the sitting edge and beneath stomach sleepers who needed firmer hip support. Nectar no longer sells this model directly, so this review is most useful if you already own one, find verified old stock, or want to understand how its feel compares with current mattresses. The results below apply to the older all-foam Premier Copper, not the separate hybrid version or today’s Nectar Luxe.

Nectar Premier Copper at a Glance

Mattress Overall Score Pros Cons Best For
Nectar Premier Copper Mattress 4.1/5 Deep pressure relief; excellent motion isolation; faster recovery than many memory-foam beds Soft hip support for heavier sleepers; compressible sitting edge; little bounce Side sleepers; couples; combination sleepers who enjoy contouring foam

Is the Nectar Premier Copper Still Worth Considering?

The Premier Copper delivered the most convincing balance for side sleepers and couples. Its comfort layers gave the shoulder and outer hip room to settle, while movement on the other side of the bed stayed unusually quiet. It also recovered from an impression faster than its deep hug suggested, so changing positions required less effort than on slower memory foam.

Its tradeoffs are just as clear. Heavier back and stomach sleepers can sink too far through the middle, and the perimeter loses confidence when used as a seat. Because the model is discontinued, we would not choose an unverified marketplace listing simply for the name. For an existing owner or a properly documented clearance purchase, however, it remains a strong fit when pressure relief and motion control matter more than bounce or firm edge support.

Best for

  • Side sleepers who need generous cushioning at the shoulder and hip

  • Couples and light sleepers who wake when a partner moves

  • Combination sleepers who like a medium, body-contouring foam surface

Skip it if

  • You sleep on your stomach and need firm lift beneath the pelvis

  • You want the springy pushback of a hybrid or latex mattress

  • You regularly sit at the edge to dress, stretch, or transfer in and out of bed

How We Evaluated the Premier Copper

Our 30-night evaluation rotated through side, back, and short stomach-sleep sessions. We recorded alignment and support, surface temperature, and pressure relief, then repeated partner-disturbance, recovery, and edge-compression checks three times. The sample measured 14.0 inches after a 48-hour expansion period. For motion isolation, we dropped a 10-pound ball from 6 inches and measured vibration on the opposite side. Edge and center compression were compared with the same 50-pound load, and foam recovery was timed until the surface regained 90% of its height.

Our Testing Experience

The mattress reached its full 14-inch height after two days and felt close to 5/10 for firmness: medium, with a noticeably plush first impression. A mild new-foam odor lingered through the first night, then became difficult to notice. The tall profile also mattered in practice; standard fitted sheets were tight, while deep-pocket sheets stayed secure.

Side sleeping showed why this mattress scored so well for pressure relief. The shoulder settled without a concentrated pressure point, and the hip sank enough to keep the waist supported rather than suspended. Back sleeping remained comfortable for lighter and average-weight testers, but the center felt less controlled as body weight increased. During short stomach-sleep sessions, that same softness allowed the pelvis to dip before the chest, which made the position less sustainable.

Motion stayed exceptionally contained. In the ball-drop test, vibration on the opposite side settled in 0.7 seconds, matching the calm feel during partner rollovers. The foam regained 90% of its height in 3.1 seconds, quick enough to avoid a pronounced stuck feeling even though the mattress produced very little bounce.

Temperature control was good for thick memory foam, not genuinely cold. After 30 minutes, the surface was 4.8°F warmer than its starting temperature; ten minutes after the tester got up, it returned to within 1.0°F of baseline. The edge produced the clearer weakness. A 50-pound load compressed the center by 1.3 inches and the sitting edge by 2.0 inches. Lying near the perimeter felt secure enough, but sitting there created a deeper fold and less dependable pushback.

What we liked

  • Deep, even pressure relief without an extremely slow memory-foam response

  • Excellent motion isolation that kept both small shifts and full rollovers localized

  • Better heat release than we usually feel from a mattress with this much foam

Who it is best for

  • Side sleepers who want the shoulder and hip to settle into the comfort layers

  • Couples, especially when one person is easily disturbed by movement

  • Lighter and average-weight back sleepers who prefer cushioning over firm pushback

Where it falls short

  • The sitting edge compresses too much for frequent perimeter use

  • Heavier back and stomach sleepers may not get enough lift through the hips

  • Its low bounce will disappoint sleepers who prefer to stay on top of the mattress

Nectar Premier Copper Mattress

How the Premier Copper Scored

Metric Score What We Found
Support 4.1/5 Balanced for side sleepers and many back sleepers, but too soft through the hips for some heavier bodies.
Cooling 4.0/5 Released heat better than many dense foam beds without feeling actively cold.
Pressure Relief 4.6/5 Cushioned the shoulder and outer hip particularly well in the side position.
Motion Isolation 4.8/5 Kept partner movement contained, with vibration settling quickly across the bed.
Responsiveness 4.1/5 Recovered faster than expected for deep memory foam, although bounce remained low.
Edge Support 3.8/5 Stable enough when lying near the perimeter, but noticeably weaker when used as a seat.
Durability 3.6/5 The short test showed no major breakdown, but it could not establish how the plush foam would hold up over years.
Overall 4.1/5 A pressure-relieving, couple-friendly foam mattress held back by soft hip support and a compressible edge.

Should You Choose This Mattress?

If you already own the Premier Copper, its best match is straightforward: side sleeping, shared sleep, and a preference for a deep memory-foam contour. A supportive base and deep-pocket sheets help the tall mattress perform as intended. Sleepers who need firmer hip support, a stable sitting edge, or pronounced bounce should look at a firmer hybrid instead.

For a new purchase, remember that the Premier Copper is discontinued. Nectar’s current 14-inch Luxe occupies a similar premium position but is not the same mattress. Among clearly different alternatives, the Purple Original provides faster, more buoyant repositioning, while the Saatva Classic in Firm offers much stronger pushback and edge stability.

The Drawbacks That Matter Most

The soft middle is the main concern for heavier back and stomach sleepers because the pelvis can settle lower than the chest. The perimeter is a separate weakness: sleeping near it is manageable, but sitting there compresses the foam enough to make standing less secure. Cooling performance is good only in the context of dense memory foam, so sleepers who regularly wake hot should favor a more breathable design. Availability adds one more risk. Old stock may not include the original trial or warranty, and a current Nectar with a similar height should not be assumed to be the same model.

Premier Copper vs. Today’s Alternatives

The Premier Copper stands apart for its combination of deep contouring and very strong motion isolation. It suits sleepers who want to sink into the surface and rarely use the edge as a seat. All three alternatives below feel more buoyant, but each gives up some of the dense foam hug that defines the Premier Copper.

The Purple Original uses a responsive GelFlex Grid instead of a thick memory-foam comfort system. It makes position changes easier and allows more space for airflow, so it is the better choice for sleepers who dislike a deep foam embrace. The Premier Copper remains the calmer option when motion isolation and close contouring come first.

The Saatva Classic in Firm has a coil-on-coil build and reinforced perimeter, creating far stronger edge support and hip lift. It is a better match for stomach sleepers, heavier bodies, and anyone who wants to sleep on rather than in the mattress. It is also more expensive and transfers more movement than the Premier Copper.

The Helix Dawn pairs firm foam with wrapped coils. It keeps the midsection higher and responds faster, making it the most direct alternative for back and stomach sleepers who found the Premier Copper too soft. Side sleepers with sensitive shoulders will usually get more cushioning from the Premier Copper.

How to Get the Best Results

  • Allow 48 hours for full expansion before judging height or firmness

  • Use deep-pocket sheets to accommodate the 14-inch profile

  • Rotate the mattress periodically; do not flip its one-sided construction

  • Vary where you sit so the same section of the edge does not take all the wear

  • Place it on a flat, supportive foundation rather than widely spaced or flexible slats

  • Use breathable sheets and a temperature-neutral protector if you tend to sleep warm

  • Stomach sleepers should use a thinner pillow to limit lower-back arching

  • Side sleepers should adjust pillow loft to account for how deeply the shoulder settles

  • Keep bedroom airflow steady because ambient temperature affects the feel of dense foam

FAQs

Does it feel like a slow, sinking memory-foam bed?

It has a deep memory-foam hug, but the surface regained most of its height in just over three seconds. Position changes were easier than expected, though the mattress still produced very little springy bounce.

Is it supportive enough for back sleepers?

It supported lighter and average-weight back sleepers who enjoyed a cushioned surface. Heavier sleepers, or anyone whose hips sink on soft beds, will get better alignment from a firmer model.

How well does it isolate motion for couples?

Exceptionally well. Small adjustments and full rollovers stayed localized, making motion control one of the mattress’s clearest strengths.

Will it sleep cool enough for hot sleepers?

It manages heat better than many thick all-foam mattresses, but it does not feel actively cold. People who regularly overheat should choose a mattress with more airflow.

Is the edge stable?

It is usable for sleeping near the perimeter, but the sitting edge compresses noticeably. It is not a good fit if you rely on the edge for dressing or getting out of bed.

Is it still part of Nectar’s current lineup?

No. Nectar sold the Premier Copper from 2021 to 2024 and has since replaced its direct lineup with Classic, Premier, and Luxe models. Those current mattresses should not be treated as identical to the Premier Copper.

Our Testing Team

Chris Miller

Lead Tester

Chris oversees the full testing pipeline for mattresses, sofas, and other home products. He coordinates the team, designs scoring frameworks, and lives with every product long enough to feel real strengths and weaknesses. His combination-sleeping and mixed lounging habits keep him focused on long-term comfort and support.

Marcus Reed

Heavyweight Sofa & Mattress Tester

Marcus brings a heavier build and heat-sensitive profile into every test. He pushes deep cushions, edges, and frames harder than most users. His feedback highlights whether a design holds up under load, runs hot, or collapses into a hammock-like slump during long gaming or streaming sessions.

Carlos Alvarez

Posture & Work-From-Home Specialist

Carlos spends long hours working from sofas and beds with a laptop. He tracks how mid-back, neck, and lumbar regions respond to different setups. His notes reveal whether a product keeps posture neutral during extended sitting or lying, and whether small adjustments still feel stable and controlled.

Mia Chen

Petite Side-Sleeper & Lounger

Mia tests how mattresses and sofas treat a smaller frame during side sleeping and curled-up lounging. She feels pressure and seat-depth problems very quickly. Her feedback exposes designs that swallow shorter users, leave feet dangling, or create sharp pressure points at shoulders, hips, and knees.

Jenna Brooks

Couple Comfort & Motion Tester

Jenna evaluates how well sofas and mattresses handle real shared use with a partner. She tracks motion transfer, usable width, and edge comfort when two adults spread out. Her comments highlight whether a product supports relaxed couple lounging, easy repositioning, and quiet nights without constant disturbance.

Jamal Davis

Tall, Active-Body Tester

Jamal brings a tall, athletic frame and post-workout soreness into the lab. He checks seat depth, leg support, and surface responsiveness on every product. His notes show whether cushions bounce back, frames feel solid under long legs, and sleep surfaces support joints during recovery stretches and naps.

Ethan Cole

Restless Lounger & Partner Tester

Ethan acts as the moving partner in many couple-focused tests. He shifts positions frequently and pays attention to how easily a surface lets him turn, slide, or return after short breaks. His feedback exposes cushions that feel too squishy, too sticky, or poorly shaped for real-world lounging patterns.
