Finding that perfect mattress that actually lets you clock a full eight hours of solid sleep every night is way harder than it sounds. With so many brands swearing they’ve got the “best sleep ever,” it’s ridiculously easy to end up on something too hard, too squishy, or just straight-up uncomfortable. That’s exactly why our crew of pro mattress testers and certified sleep coaches rolled up their sleeves and got hands-on with dozens of the top-rated beds to figure out which ones actually deliver real, all-night comfort.

The mattresses that made this list crushed it in the categories that really make or break comfort, so you can relax knowing you’ve landed on the right fit. Whether you’re a side sleeper who loves that cloud-like plushness, a back sleeper who needs steady support, or a combo sleeper chasing that sweet middle ground, there’s a bed here that truly stands out from the pack.

Bottom Line: What’s the Most Comfortable Mattress?

The Helix Midnight Luxe snagged our top spot for the most comfortable mattress because its blend of a cushy pillow top, body-hugging memory foam, and springy coils hits that rare balance of soft and supportive. The feel is plush yet steady, flexing to fit however you sleep. During testing, it racked up scores of 4 out of 5 or higher for edge support, cooling, and pressure relief—earning big praise from our certified sleep coaches and our lead medical product tester, Dr. Hannah Habeeb.

The Helix Midnight Luxe grabs the crown for the most comfortable mattress, thanks to its plush pillow top, cozy yet supportive memory foam and coil combo, and that all-around luxury vibe. During our testing, the Midnight Luxe pulled off a 4/5 or higher across every category—edge support, pressure relief, and cooling all included.

Mattress tester Livvi DiCicco was instantly blown away by how sturdy the Helix Midnight Luxe felt from corner to corner, giving it a 4.8 for edge support.

“I barely noticed any sagging at all along the sides of the Midnight Luxe,” Livvi said. “When I laid on my back and stomach, I felt totally stable. Switching positions was pretty easy too, just a little slowed down by the tufted top.”

The Helix Midnight Luxe’s even support also led to better-than-average pressure relief, which Livvi rated a solid 4.2/5. During that test, she used a special pressure-mapping mat to track where tension built up across her body.

The results showed almost no pressure forming around her hips and shoulders while lying on her side, which means it’s a great pick for folks with joint pain. On her back, there was virtually zero pressure buildup anywhere.

“This mattress just feels awesome,” Livvi said. “What I love most is how it fills in right under your lower back. The quilted top is soft and cushiony, but those pocketed coils underneath give my back the exact support it needs. I really like this one for back sleeping, though I’m usually more of a side and stomach sleeper. I can totally see this working for lots of combo sleepers too.”

Livvi also brought in our lead medical product tester and licensed physical therapist, Dr. Hannah Habeeb, to give the Helix Midnight Luxe a spin and share her expert take. Dr. Habeeb came away pretty impressed with how well the Helix handled her test.

“I’m not feeling any pressure at all,” said Dr. Habeeb. “I’ve got solid lower back support, and I don’t think I’m sinking in enough for my back to get irritated.”

The cherry on top for Livvi and the rest of the Dweva Review Team was the Helix Midnight Luxe’s standout cooling performance, which earned a 4.5/5. The cool-touch fibers in its plush cover really help keep the temperature in check and the surface feeling fresh. When Livvi used a thermal gun to measure the surface temp before and after lying on it for seven minutes, it only went up by just under four degrees—crazy impressive for a mattress with a pillow top.

The only thing Livvi pointed out as a possible downside was that the Helix Midnight Luxe might not be firm enough for sleepers weighing over 230 pounds. Heavier folks might sink too deep into the plush top, which could throw off spinal alignment and lead to tension over time.

Nectar Classic – Most Comfortable Cooling Mattress

If you tend to overheat at night, it can be tough to cool off enough to actually fall asleep. The best mattresses for hot sleepers should help steady your body temperature and keep you comfy through the night. Luckily, our experts at Dweva Review Team found that the Nectar Classic really nails that balance. They were impressed by its cooling power and motion control, giving it a score of 4/5 or higher in both categories.

During testing, Livvi DiCicco gave the Nectar Classic a rare 5/5 rating for cooling. While lying on this bed, she loved the crisp, cool-to-the-touch sensation from its cooling fiber-infused top cover. She used a thermal gun to take readings before and after lying on it for seven minutes. After a few minutes of resting still, she discovered that the surface temperature only went up by 3.9 degrees — easily some of the best results we’ve seen so far.

“I didn’t feel like I was overheating while lying on this bed,” Livvi said. “I only noticed the warmth after I got up and touched the spot where I’d been lying. Overall, this mattress is a fantastic choice for couples or anyone who tends to run hot at night.”

Speaking of couples, anyone sharing the bed with a restless partner will also appreciate the Nectar Classic’s top-tier motion isolation. Like most quality memory foam beds, its all-foam build does an awesome job of absorbing movement so it doesn’t ripple across the surface. During testing, Livvi gave it an almost-perfect 4.7/5 in this category, applauding how well it muffles motion.

“I’m one of those people who can feel every tiny shift, even on beds that promise zero motion transfer,” Livvi said. “That being said, the Nectar is definitely one of the best I’ve ever tried. I didn’t notice my testing partner’s tossing and turning at all from my side of the bed.”

However, the Nectar Classic won’t be perfect for everyone. Since it’s on the firmer end, it doesn’t give as much of that deep contouring feel that softer memory foam mattresses provide. Strict side sleepers who want a plush bed that hugs their shoulders and hips might need to keep looking. On the other hand, sleepers over 230 pounds will probably find the Nectar Classic a bit too soft and not supportive enough for their frame.

Saatva Classic – Most Comfortable Mattress for Back Sleepers

The best mattresses for back sleepers are firm enough to lift their hips and keep their spines nice and straight. According to Dr. Dasgupta, a mattress without enough support can let your lower body sink too much, putting extra stress on your lower back. The Luxury Firm Saatva Classic, with its plush Euro top and double layers of innerspring coils, nails that perfect mix of coziness and structure for these sleepers. During testing, Livvi DiCicco gave the Saatva Classic a 4/5 or higher for edge support, pressure relief, and cooling.

The Saatva Classic is an obvious pick for back sleepers since it really sets the gold standard for support. Mattress tester Livvi DiCicco gave the Saatva a flawless 5/5 for edge support, calling out its steady corner-to-corner strength and reinforced sides.

“Because the coils run all the way to the edges, I felt just as supported and comfy along the edge as I did in the middle of the mattress,” Livvi said. “I never once felt like I was going to slide or roll off the side of this bed.”

The Saatva’s soft Euro top layer paired with its solid coil system makes it a dream combo for easing pressure, especially for back sleepers. Livvi and her fellow testers gave it a 4.5/5 for pressure relief, pointing out how much tension melted away from their lower backs while resting on it.

“I think people will feel really comfortable lying on their backs on this one,” Livvi said. “It feels like I’m laying on top of the bed rather than sinking into it. I don’t feel any weird sagging around my lower back, which is a big plus.”

Rounding out the Saatva’s comfort trifecta is its solid 4/5 cooling score. Even with the cushy top, Livvi noticed that the Saatva Classic didn’t trap nearly as much heat as she expected. Since this mattress uses two coil layers instead of just one, it has way better airflow than most hybrid or innerspring beds — something hot sleepers will definitely appreciate.

While this innerspring mattress is a fantastic option for back sleepers, it’s not perfect for everyone. We wouldn’t suggest it for couples or sleepers under 130 pounds.

The coil system gives back sleepers the sturdy lift they need, but it also makes the mattress extra bouncy. Couples will probably notice every move their partner makes during the night. On top of that, lightweight sleepers might find this mattress too firm for comfort. These sleepers usually prefer something softer that gently cradles their joints and takes the pressure off spots like the hips and shoulders.

A comfy mattress for heavier sleepers needs to be sturdy enough to handle extra weight without feeling like you’re lying on a brick. The WinkBed Plus totally nails that balance, with a build that mixes zoned support coils and a plush Euro-style pillow top. During testing, Livvi and I gave this mattress a 4/5 or higher across every category, including a flawless 5/5 for cooling and a solid 4.3/5 for pressure relief.

If you’re after a hybrid mattress that delivers strong support and next-level temperature control, the WinkBed Plus definitely deserves a top spot on your list. During testing, Livvi used a thermal gun to check the surface temperature before and after lying on it. After seven straight minutes of rest, the WinkBed Plus showed just a small temperature bump of 3.7 degrees, putting it right up there with some of the best cooling mattresses we’ve tested so far.

“There was only a 3.7-degree increase, which honestly surprised me,” Livvi said. “I wouldn’t call the bed cold to the touch, but I didn’t feel any heat building underneath me either. You’d expect the pillow top to trap warmth, but I think the coils are really doing their job here, keeping the air moving. Hot sleepers should be pretty happy with this one.”

Livvi and I were also impressed by how well it handled pressure relief. We brought in our heavy tester, Matt Schickling, to share his take on the WinkBed Plus while lying on his back and side. After spending time testing it in our Charlotte, NC studio, Matt gave the bed high marks for keeping him comfortable all around. We averaged his feedback with results from testers in other weight groups and ended up with a 4.3/5 overall for pressure relief.

“It actually feels really nice on my side, which is surprising because it’s so firm,” Matt said. “I can feel the pillow top easing up pressure in my joints. My hips are lined up with my spine, and there’s no tension in my neck at all.”

As a mattress that scored 4/5 or higher in every test, it’s tough to find anything to complain about with the WinkBed Plus. At 14 inches thick, it’s definitely a beefy mattress that might feel a bit tall for some people; still, that extra height gives heavier sleepers plenty of space to settle in without losing support. The price tag (around $2,000 for a queen) leans on the pricier side, but the premium materials and thoughtful build make it a solid investment for anyone looking for long-lasting comfort and durability.

The DreamCloud Premier is a fantastic pick for anyone who loves hybrid mattresses and wants to level up their sleep game. The high-end DreamCloud easily takes the crown for best hybrid mattress on this list, thanks to its standout performance in edge support, pressure relief, and responsiveness. During testing, this bed pulled in scores of 4/5 or higher in every category.

First off, hybrid mattresses are famous for mixing cozy memory foam with sturdy innerspring coils. The coil system delivers steady support from corner to corner, making sure sleepers get the same lift and pressure relief no matter where they lie. The DreamCloud Premier Hybrid absolutely lives up to that, earning a 4.4/5 in the edge support category.

“When I lay down in different positions, I felt totally supported near the edge,” said our in-house mattress tester. “My body stayed balanced, and I never felt like I was going to slide off. I could roll or shift around easily and still feel secure. This bed would be perfect for an older sleeper who wants solid edge support paired with a cushy surface.”

The DreamCloud Premier’s plush top layer also plays a big role in its impressive pressure relief. Our in-house testing team loved how the comfort layer hugged their joints and eased tension in their lower backs across different sleeping positions. After lying on their backs and sides, they gave the bed an overall 4.4 for pressure relief.

“This bed is incredible for side sleeping, and I’m obsessed,” said one of our testers. “I don’t feel any pressure on my side at all, and the bed just hugs me in all the right spots.”

Our chief medical product tester and licensed physical therapist, Dr. Hannah Habeeb, shared a similar opinion.

“I think this is an excellent mattress for side sleepers,” said Dr. Habeeb. “It’s not overly firm, and it lets you sink in just enough to feel cozy, but it still gives strong support.”

Despite having that pillowy, cloud-like top, the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid is super easy to move around on. Combination sleepers will love the bounce from the coils since they need a responsive surface that lets them shift positions without feeling stuck. Our testing team gave the DreamCloud a perfect 5/5 in this category because they could switch sleeping positions smoothly and effortlessly.

Unfortunately, the DreamCloud Premier isn’t totally flawless. During testing, it scored 3.5/5 for cooling, which means it performs about average in that area. Our testers don’t expect most sleepers to overheat on this bed, but if you’re the kind of person who wakes up drenched in sweat, you might want to consider a mattress that’s specifically built to stay extra cool.

Finding the right mattress is tough enough without having to factor in someone else’s sleep habits. For couples, the challenge usually comes down to balancing two totally different ways of sleeping. In general, a solid mattress for couples should deliver strong edge support, reliable cooling, and good motion isolation. Luckily, the Luxury Firm Nolah Evolution checks all those boxes, earning scores of 4/5 or higher across every category.

When buying a mattress for two, couples need to make sure it’s sturdy enough to hold up both sleepers. Edge support says a lot about how durable a bed really is. It also gives you and your partner the freedom to stretch out all the way across the surface without feeling cramped. Our in-house testing crew gave the Nolah Evolution a 4.6/5 for this feature, crediting its reinforced perimeter.

“When I was lying way out on the edge of the bed, I felt totally secure,” said one of our testers. “The mattress never dipped or sagged, no matter how close I scooted toward the side. Whether I was on my back, side, or stomach, it stayed nice and steady with zero give along the edge.”

Two people sharing a bed naturally give off more heat than one, especially if one partner sleeps hot. Because of that, couples really benefit from mattresses with solid cooling features or hybrid builds that allow for more airflow. The Nolah Evolution’s airy cooling cover and coil construction deliver both, helping it earn a strong 4/5 in the cooling category.

“I didn’t notice the mattress heating up under me,” said our in-house tester. “It kept a nice, even temperature the whole time.”

Maybe the most important thing for couples, though, is motion isolation — keeping one person’s movements from shaking the whole bed. Our testers found that the Nolah Evolution’s memory foam layer absorbed motion really well, preventing it from disturbing the other person. They gave it a perfect 5/5 in this category.

“I could barely feel my coworker climbing onto the mattress or moving around on the opposite side, and it never disrupted my side or my comfort,” said our in-house tester.

The only weak spot for the Nolah doesn’t actually have to do with the mattress itself — it’s about the brand’s policies. We gave its customer experience a 3.9 because of the relatively short 120-night trial. While that’s not terrible, it’s a bit underwhelming for a mattress in this price range (about $2,277 before discounts for a queen). The silver lining is that Nolah still includes a limited lifetime warranty.

Bear Original – Most Comfortable Memory Foam Mattress

Bear

Bear Mattress

The Bear Original mattress has been a long-standing favorite among our testers — and for good reason. This all-foam bed delivers that perfect mix of support and contour while still being easy on the wallet at $998 (before discounts) for a queen. Even more impressive, it pulled in a 4/5 or higher across every performance category, including edge support and cooling.

Finding a memory foam mattress that feels sturdy all the way around is tough since a lot of foam beds lose structure near the edges. Thankfully, the Bear Original doesn’t fall into that trap. Mattress tester Melanie Kassel noticed that the Bear stayed rock-solid right up to the edge, giving it a 4.2/5 for edge support.

“I never felt like I was about to roll off,” Melanie said. “I felt the most secure on my back and stomach. I think people who sleep in those positions will feel the most comfortable near the edge of the bed.”

Kate Meier, who’s had the queen-sized Bear Original for about three years, totally agreed. “I love how sturdy the edges are on this mattress,” she said. “I’ve never once felt like I was slipping off or close to falling.”

The Bear Original also scored a strong 4/5 for cooling — which is no small feat for a memory foam bed. Foam mattresses tend to trap heat, but this one stays surprisingly temperature-neutral because of its breathable build and cool-to-the-touch cover.

“For a foam mattress, its temperature stayed pretty steady during the seven-minute cooling test,” Melanie said. “The heat increase was a little more noticeable under my pressure points, but that probably depends on the sleeper.”

However, since the Bear is on the firmer side (7 out of 10 on our firmness scale), its pressure relief lands around average, making it better suited for side sleepers who prefer something softer with more give. At just 10 inches tall, the Bear Original might also compress too much for sleepers over 230 pounds, which could cause less support around the lower back and other pressure-heavy areas.

When it comes to finding the most comfortable and eco-friendly mattress out there, the Birch Luxe Natural easily lands in the top spot. This latex mattress uses all-natural materials that deliver breathable, supportive comfort. During testing, our in-house crew was blown away by its pressure relief, edge support, and bounce, giving it a 4/5 or higher in every single category.

The Birch Luxe comes with both GOLS and GREENGUARD Gold certifications, meaning it meets strict standards for low chemical emissions and sustainable production. It’s also completely free of fiberglass, which makes for a cleaner, safer place to sleep.

As Dr. Dasgupta puts it, “Fiberglass exposure can irritate your skin, eyes, and lungs, leading to things like itching, coughing, allergies, and even breathing problems.”

However, all those certifications don’t mean much if the bed isn’t actually comfortable to lie on. The good news is that the Birch Luxe Natural nailed it with an almost perfect balance of supportive lift and soft cushioning, earning a 4.3/5 for pressure relief.

“My hips and shoulders feel totally even, and my spine feels perfectly aligned,” said our product tester. “There’s just enough give to cushion my pressure points without letting my weight sink unevenly anywhere.”

The mix of latex and coils also creates steady comfort and strong support across the entire mattress, pulling in a 4.7/5 for edge support.

“I feel really stable lying on my back and never feel like I’m about to slide off the side,” said our mattress tester.

The Birch Luxe Natural is also a dream to move around on, thanks to its naturally springy surface. During testing, our team gave it a perfect 5/5 for responsiveness, which is a huge win for combination sleepers who like switching positions through the night.

While the Birch Luxe only got average marks in cooling (3.5/5) and motion isolation (3.8/5), that shouldn’t be an issue for most people — unless you’re someone who overheats easily or sleeps next to a partner who wakes up at every little movement.

The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid brings top-notch comfort without that fancy price tag. At just $1,332 before discounts (and often dropping to around $999 during sales), this online favorite stood out in cooling and edge support, scoring a solid 4.5/5 and 4.2/5 in those categories.

Even with its affordable price, the Signature Hybrid feels like something you’d find in a high-end hotel. Mattress tester Livvi DiCicco and I were both impressed with its supportive coil system and cushy memory foam layers during testing. As someone who tends to sleep hot, I was especially happy with how well it handled heat.

Livvi used a thermal gun to check the surface temperature before and after lying on it. After staying in one spot for seven minutes, she recorded only a 4.1-degree increase. That performance landed it firmly in our “excellent cooling” category with a 4.2/5 rating.

“I didn’t really feel it heating up under me at all,” Livvi said. “It doesn’t feel icy cold, but it also doesn’t trap heat. When I touched the spot I’d just been lying on, it didn’t feel warm to me.”

Edge support is another major win for folks looking for value since it often points to how long a mattress will hold up over time.

According to Dr. Dasgupta, “A mattress with strong edge support usually means better durability. When a bed can keep its shape evenly from corner to corner, it’s far less likely to sag or wear out as time passes.”

I gave the Signature Hybrid a 4.2/5 for edge support because I could sit and stretch out comfortably on the sides without feeling like I might slip off. The edges felt just as solid as the center, which is great news for couples or anyone who likes to sprawl out and use every inch of the mattress.

The only downside we found with the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid was its lack of flexibility with our adjustable base during testing. Its firm innerspring coils make it less bendable than some other models. After trying a few different positions on the adjustable base, we noticed the mattress stayed mostly flat all the way through.

Other Comfortable Mattresses We Researched

The following mattresses just missed making the main list in their categories. However, depending on what you’re after, they could still be solid choices.

  • Leesa Original – Similar to the Bear Original, the Leesa Original is a super comfy memory foam mattress that performed really well in our tests. The catch? It’s about $300 more than the Bear, which is why it didn’t make it onto our final list.
  • Silk & Snow Hybrid – The Silk & Snow Hybrid is a great pick for couples who want a mattress that excels at staying cool and isolating motion. The only downside is its edge support score, which was just slightly above average. So, it might not be the best fit for couples who tend to sleep near the edge of the bed.
